Hey there parents, this is one of my most used baby items! It is marketed as a portable bassinet, but we use it solely as a changing station downstairs at our house. It fits perfectly on the coffee table in the living room. Pair it with an awesome diaper caddy to hold extra outfits, diapers, wipes, creams, etc.
My favorite thing about the Lulyboo, is that you can move it to any surface, so it is out of the way. I know a lot of moms change baby on the couch. I’ll tell you what – with the amount of times my child has gotten bodily fluids on this item, there is no way I’m letting him near my couch with a full diaper. Another common option is to put baby on the floor with a blanket; but we have two dogs and a cat that become wayyy too interested as soon as somebody gets down to their level. The last thing I need is a tail covered in poo running wild in the house.
It can be a little frustrating having to take the cover off to wash. If your little one does have a blowout or starts to pee DURING the diaper change, it can get messy. Pro tip: if you put a blanket over the top of it, cleanup is much easier. The alternative is having to constantly unzip it, which gets old. Top it off with one of these changing pad liners from Amazon, and you are prepared for any level of blowout!
If you do want to travel with it, there is a buckle on the bottom that essentially folds the bassinet in half and two backpack straps on the back of it. I’ve never gone anywhere overnight with the baby, but this would be a great item to pack if we do. Now that baby’s starting to roll, it’s also great to have on the couch so he can’t roll off.
The sides are just a ring of hard foam, and the cover zips up around it. The bottom part of the bassinet is slightly padded, but not enough for a suffocation risk. It’s similar to the small amount of padding you would find in one of those activity gyms.
Where to find it:
You can get it in blue, pink or beige at the first link, or you can choose between two gender neutral patterns at the second link.
